What's New

Where are they?

February 26, 2015 - 4:16pm -- michelleaxtell

Our feeders are full because not many birds have been visiting this week.  This morning our bird watchers saw four dark birds on a wire in the distance, but had a hard time identifying them.  We hope to spot more birds next week!

Bird Books

February 20, 2015 - 4:38pm -- michelleaxtell

Students are digging into the bird books provided by the program.  They've discovered connections between what they've learned, what they are seeing, and what they can find in the bird guides.  They are enthusiastic about finding birds we've studied in the resources.  They are also intrigued by the charactaristics of birds we don't typically see in Idaho.

Great Guide!

February 5, 2015 - 4:31pm -- michelleaxtell

During Mr. Stevens’ visit this week, students saw a great list of bird species we’ve been studying. Typically, we watch for birds on and around our feeders. This time, however, students surveyed the school grounds. With a lucky break in the rainy weather, they were able to spy one or more of each of the following: dark eyed junco, house finch, song sparrow, Canada goose, American kestrel, northern flicker, European starling, and American robin.

Up and Running

September 26, 2014 - 2:05pm -- michelleaxtell

It took a couple of trials, but we think we have our feeders in a great spot.  They are near the canal for a water source and within view of our windows for lots of viewing.  Now, to spot those birds.
