Kathryn Albertson's Field Trip

May 17, 2017 - 2:10pm -- Joni Brooks

Brrrr! It was cold, but the rain held off!  We saw more than 15 different types of birds and learned some new bird facts from Ms. Ware!  We played Migration games, made our name out of nature, and played Birdie Bingo.  We are graphing the birds we saw and each learned something new today!  Great day for birding!

Bird Walk!

March 2, 2017 - 9:50am -- Joni Brooks

We recently had a fun bird walk in the greenbelt!  We saw a Belted Kingfisher and observed him for sometime.  We think we know his favorite tree!  We saw Mute Swans in a pond, gold finches, Canada Geese, and mallard ducks.  The students are now working on bird reports and excited for spring birding!  I hope the greenbelt doesn't flood so we can still take our monthly bird walk!

Birds of Prey

December 2, 2016 - 3:55pm -- Joni Brooks

Our entire 100 first graders had the great experience of visiting the Bird of Prey Center! The kids loved it! We've been having so much fun seeing the cute Gold finches at our feeders. Next week, we are scheduled to take a green belt bird walk with some birding grandparents!! I hope the weather holds,  but I'm sure the kids would love to bird watch in the snow!
