Last Wednesday we had our second presentation from Carrie Hugo. She shared a slide show on bird migration. It was so interesting! The students get so excited and have so many questions! I love seeing and hearing them get so enthused about birding.
Mullan Trail Elementary
We have not posted any sightings the last few weeks because there has hardly been any birds at our feeders. I'm not sure what's going on because our feeders had been so busy. Any ideas?
I put out a couple birdfeeders every year. However, with the addition of the feeders provided by Bird by Bird, we have been seeing a greater number of birds this year. Also, we have seen a greater variety of birds. It's amazing! For example, we see house finches every year, but the numbers at our feeders have grown from 3-4 to 8-12. We occasionally see a common flicker, but this year, we have seen two at the feeder and have seen them multiple times. New species have included: a black-capped chickadee, a mountain chickadee, a varied thrush, and today a downy woodpecker! The students and I get so excited!
