September Visit with Mrs. Hugo

September Visit with Mrs. Hugo

September 23, 2017 - 8:53am -- mpattis

This past week we had our first visit from Mrs. Hugo. Here are some things my students learned from her:

I learned about birds and one thing I learned was eagles almost went extinct. She showed us bird sounds on her phone. She showed us a slideshow about  all types of birds. Amarra

Mrs. Hugo came yesterday to teach us about birds. First, she put on a slide show about birds for us to watch. Then, Mrs. Hugo told the class that eagles almost went extinct. Last, she put bird sounds on her phone. Lily

When Mrs. Hugo came in we got to learn about birds. One cool thing about one bird is that the vulture can smell really well. Mrs.Hugo told us she saw a video about vultures that a guy put a piece of gross meat on the ground in the rainforest and waited for the vulture to come. It took the vulture only an hour and something minutes to find it. Also, my favorite bird was the hummingbird. Kinley

I learned that bids have special songs to communicate to other birds.Birds are very important to the environment because they drop the seeds to make new plants. Birds have beautiful feathers and colors to attract the female bird. Natalie   The first thing I learned was that there are 409 types of birds in the state of Idaho. The next thing I learned was there are over 900 types of birds in the United States of America. Then, Bald Eagles were almost extinct from a spray called DDT. Last, I learned that flamingos have really skinny legs.  That is what I learned with Mrs.Hugo. Scarlet

As you can see, we learned a lot in a very short amount of time! Mrs. Hugo is awesome!
